Excellent location, service was great, great location. Reforma Ave, chapultepec Castle, museum of natural history etc. There's a sports bar a block away. Hotel bar is quite not much there. Rooms are great clean and quite, restaurant is great.
Went there for NYE, the hotel it's nice, not great, offers a nice view of the park, especially from the upper floors, and is very well located. You can reach the main attraction, by foot, in just minutes.
"Comfortable Rooms...Spotty Service"
I spent 6 nights ate the Grand Fiesta American Chapultepec. When I arrived I had a bit of a problem, totally unrelated to the hotel. The Concierge was incredibly helpful. I give him 6 stars.
Check-in was easy and fast.
The location is good with some nice views of Chapultepec Park. There is a BBVA Bancomer a few doors down with an ATM.
There is a lobby bar and a mezzanine restaurant.
The room was spacious, comfortable was a nice bathroom. The room had a nice comfortable king sized bed. The blanket was heavy and too warm. Even though I had the AC set at a cool 18ºC (64F) I was uncomfortably warm at night and took the blanket off. There was a coffee maker and mini-bar. The room had curtains which were great at keeping the room dark.
There was a lack of plugs for devices. There were no plugs available on the night stand, and the clock was on the desk, probably due to the lack of plugs.
The internet worked great. Download speed was 23mps.
The housekeeping was spotty. Only once was during my stay was the coffee replaced. One day bath towels were not left, and I had to ask twice to have them sent to the room. Even though this was a double room, there was only one bathrobe. The do not disturb and please make up this room door hangers were missing and never replaced. There is an ice machine located on the floor and the water in the ice bucked was never emptied.
Some days the toiletries were not replaced, other days no hand towels. Some days a tray with bottled water was left on the bed, other days not. Some days there would be an evening knock on the door with a staff member delivering chocolate, other days not.
The first night we brought some leftover from dinner and placed them in the mini-bar. The next day all the items from the mini-bar were removed, which we had no problem with since we would not use it. Despite having an unstocked mini-bar, charges were on the bill at check-out. The charges were removed.
On the day of departure we ordered room service by placing a request on the door the evening before. When breakfast did not arrive as scheduled, we called and were told that there was a problem in the kitchen and the order would be there in 5 minutes. Breakfast arrived about 30 to 40 minutes after the time we requested and was missing some items. We had to call down to get our missing juice, pancakes and bacon. which arrived quickly.
As an aside, if you take the Capital Bus Hop on Hop Off tour, there is a stop just half a block from the hotel.
Overall, the room was comfortable, but be prepared for some spotty service.
The bed was very hard. I asked if we could change rooms they said they would get back to me and never did.
The mini bar they keep locked. One night I got them to open it the next night they never came when I called again to open it.
I used Uber when I was there. Way less then a taxi. The hotel discouraged this multiple times. I’m assuming they get a taxi kickback as much as they insisted we use a taxi.
The hotel overall is in decent condition. The location was super close to a beautiful park that we enjoyed and it was a close walk to many other things. Not a lot of good food options close by so we got stuck with room service a couple times which was decent but hotel prices for sure.
Overall there are so many private condo rentals for much less and other hotels to try that I can’t see us staying here again.
I's like to say the service was great but the same time, I was a little disappointed with the front desk at Check in. It was very annoying in fact. They try to run multiple authorization on the cards (yes cards because they were being declined due the the number of authorization within minutes of each other). I did not know this until I actually got in the the room and got email notification from the cards companies.
Negative experience aside, I was very happy with everything else. The bell man was very nice and helpful. The room was very comfortable with beautiful view of the park and Castillo Chapultepec. Good size closet. Regular hairdryer (not one of those tiny ones attached to the wall), L'Occitane toiletries, complimentary bottled water. I recommend using the bottles water in the bathroom when brushing your teeth. The tap water smelled like paint which is very noticable in the shower.
There's a good restaurant in the hotel which I recommend trying. The breakfast was amazing. The service was great in the restaurant!
The hotel is walking distance to a lot of restaurants, including Starbucks if you must.. The Park is just across the street, which leads you towards the Chapultepec Castle and many other tourist attractions and monuments. Going out of the hotel to the right will take you towards Ave Presidente Masaryk which is line with Lux shopping and restaurants.
The room service was good and not overpriced. Maid service was excellent.
I would recommend and stay at this hotel again.
