"Old resort with plenty of charm and great service!"
I visited this report two yeas in a row for my company sales meeting. I had no complaints or issues either visit. All staff were very attentive and friendly. Food was good and no stomach issues for me, other coworkers had a few issues, but were never able to pinpoint cause. Pool is gorgeous, chips and salsa poolside are a great snack. Beach is small, but wide. Well maintained and clean beach area. Rooms are spacious and clean. Turndown service is a nice touch.
"We expected more"
There is a very important element missing from this hotel - and that is true class and elegance. A place just can't be elegant if the most important pressing piece of information they give you at check in is that only one brand of bottled water in the room is free, but that the Evian bottled waters will cost you.
That is followed by a really pushy sale to come to a 1 and 1/2 hour "presentation" the next morning on something the hotel mega-corporations want to sell you. Basically, they are trying to bribe you to get them to try to sell you more stuff. That is just not elegant or classy, and I do expect elegance and class at $300 per night.
On our trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, we stayed at boutique hotels and B & B's that had way, way more class than this place.
Also, they tried to charge me for the wheelchair they had lent me. I had to point out the charge on the bill, which was then deleted. It was like I could hear the sound of the giant vacuum cleaner they use to try to suck every last of your dollars up into a big coffer.
That being said, the grounds are beautiful, the pool is great, the beach is really lovely, and the poor people who work there work really really hard, and are so nice for the most part. The people who were the coldest were the ones at the front desk, strangely enough.
I enjoyed it because it was a strange experience, full of extremes. But I doubt I would go there again unless someone else was paying.
Great people and beautiful property. I laugh at some of the bad reviews mentioning the most minor of problems. I highly recommend the room service! Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing time and excellent service at a fair price!
"Big hotel, shameless internet"
You will find a large TV screen on your room -who watches it nowdays?- but the internet is terrible. Staff is sometimes cold, sometimes friendly.Front beach hotel, near the center and all Cancun nightlife.
"Awesome Pools! Elegant Hotel.."
Brought my wife here for her BDAY, the hotel is very pretty and elegant. This property is very old however they keep it looking very nice. First thing you will love is the location, you are literally in downtown Cancun, walking distance to everything. Second the pools are amazing with four swim up bars to drink at. The service is a hit and miss, sometimes good other times I couldn't find anyone to bring me a beer.
The breakfast is expensive but to us it Was No different than any other all inclusive we have stayed in Cancun. We did the Vacation Cub Presentation and hated it, they kept us for 3 hours and we felt pressured. DO NOT DO IT, not worth the free breakfast or free dinner!
We had dinner at Isla Contoy and the Lobster was Great. We would visit this property and we just will refuse the Club Presentation! Very pretty Hotel. A must see!
