"5 stars in the Grand Fiesta Club"
My wife and I went to the GFA for our 10 year anniversary. We booked through Costco and had transportation included. After you pick up your bags there will be a room FULL of people INSIDE the airport trying to sell you taxi service / time shares - just ignore them and push through to the outside. Costco contracts through Grey Line so find the representative outside and he will get you into the car / bus.
We decided to upgrade to the Grand Fiesta Club (GFC) which guarantees your room will be on floors 12-14, private check in, access to the Grand Fiest Club (located on the 13th floor), upgraded bathroom amenities, VIP concierge services and a few other things. We ended up with a 12th-floor room which had amazing views and is probably worth the price of the upgrade alone! The GFC has breakfast in the mornings, heavy appetizers in the afternoons and desserts in the evenings. There is an extensive self-serve bar that offered premium liquors and was the go-to spot for us before dinner each night. For our 5 night stay the upgrade was $130 and well woth it.
Is overall very good despite the small portion sizes. We would order about 3 items per person to feel satisfied.
D'Brick is the buffet, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We ate here a few times and was never very impressed. It offers a lot of different food choices but a lot of the times the food was luke warm and not flavorful. We ate most of our breakfasts upstairs in the GFC.
Shore Grill is located by the pool and is open for lunch every day. They have burgers, tacos, fish and chips, and other grilled foods. For dinner it turns into La Taqueria which serves authentic Mexican tacos that are tasty! We would often go here for taco appetizers before dinner.
La Cevicheria is also by the pool and is only open for lunch. Mostly seafood - tacos, ceviche, soup. The fish tacos here are out of this world good!
Rojo Corazon is the fancier Mexican spot open only for dinner and requires reservations. The table side guacamole was amazing and the tacos were good but very small, overall not super impressed.
Giuliettta is the Italian restaurant. It is fancy but did not require reservations (at least not when we were there). We came here on our first night before we knew how small the portions were and I ordered the ravioli... It was literally 3 tiny ravs!
Yuu is the fancy Japanese restaurant open for dinner and requires reservations. The sushi was very good and the entrees were great. This was by far our favorite place to eat. We had Claudio our first time and he was so great that we came back for our anniversary dinner and asked to sit in his section. We both ordered cocktails and before they were finished he had 2 more waiting for us. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and even made a few suggestions. When dinner was wrapping up he had a special dessert made to celebrate our anniversary / last night @ GFA.
Serrano is the tapas place open in the evenings and is located near the lobby. The welcome dish with cheesy bread, veggies and candied almonds. The chicken croquettes are extremely good as was the tapa with egg.
We stayed away from the pools due to the loud music and general chaos. The beach is located on the opposite side of the resort and is a great place to relax. The ocean is warm and the beach is cleaned every morning. David was our server and did a great job checking in with us and bringing us food / drinks.
Overall, a fabulous experience here. We stayed here because in the past I enjoyed my first time in an All-Inclusive resort in Cancun which was also Fiesta Americana. In my opinion, this was a small step down, but still enjoyable. Many people mentioned the beach being an issue, but I thought it was fine. Not the luscious sandy beaches maybe you picture, but more than enough room to swim and have a nice walk. Check in took way too long, and we were told to wait 30 minutes after 3pm, which turned into an hour and a half. Not thrilled, but they did let us check in a couple hours later which was nice, for no extra charge. We also asked for extra bath towels 4 times before getting them an hour later. After getting out of the pool, that’s not what we wanted at all. We had a VIP suite, which included a cabana each day (SO WORTH IT) and a VIP lounge (so/so). Overall, the crowd that comes here is a lot younger than your typical Adults-Only. Foam parties and loud music until 1am weren’t ideal, but it was a good time for those who appreciate that scene. The staff was all very carrying and thoughtful. Overall a fantastic girls trip!
Amazing place to stay they take great care of you and have wonderful facilities.... the shows were amazing every night and the pool entertainment was so much fun! We had a BLAST! We will for sure be back to visit as soon as we can!
Well besides the fact that it was raining season in PV it didn't stop the fun. My room was on the 11th fl and the view was amazing. Very large room, clean and the bathroom was very posh. Very polite, attentive and caring staff. Food was good and drinks were very well prepared. The bartenders definitely know what they are doing. On my 3rd day there I met the most amazing staff member at the pool. His name is Jorge. The amount of laughs and jokes we had were indescribable. I loved his carisma and out of this world personality. Very attentive, professional and knowledgeable. He made sure I was taken care of at the pool area and on my last day he walked me to the lobby where my cab was waiting to take me to the airport. Out of the staff members and things to do at PV Jorge was definitely the most memorable. Good Job GFA on having him as part of your team.
"Amazing resort with amazing views"
This resort was one of the best that I've been to. There was always something to do and the staff went out of their way to accommodate our every need. We were blown away from the minute we stepped into the lobby by the breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains and the Pacific.
On the first night, we discovered our room (127 in the South Tower) was quite close to a stairwell that happened to lead down to the buffet's kitchen. I woke up at about 4:30am to the sound of the staff preparing breakfast and sorting cutlery. However, my boyfriend mentioned this to reception first thing that morning and they moved us to a quiet room on the 3rd floor of the North Tower right away. The views from the North Tower are beautiful, even on a lower level. The ocean is spread out in front of you and the mountains are off in the distance. It makes for watching sunsets from the balcony a really romantic experience.
There are many options for food. My favourite restaurant was the Shore Grill which had wings, burgers, steak, chicken fingers, etc. for lunch and then switched to a taco bar for dinner. Try the lamb or Mexican burger. My favourite meal was when they had meat cooking on a gyro machine outside the Grill for tacos. Definitely go to Shore Grill the night they offer that! The Italian is also quite good; the gnocchi was delicious. The bars are always fully stocked with whatever kind of alcohol you want - even top shelf. I don't know how people on here are complaining about alcohol being watered down because it was never an issue for us. The cafe in the lobby has specialty coffees and we found the coffee there tasted better than what was offered at D'Brick, so we'd go there before heading to the buffet in the morning.
The rooms are clean and the air conditioning is fantastic. The bed will be the best bed you've ever slept in - comfy with incredibly soft sheets. We ordered room service one night (the mushroom soup is a must-have) and the dishes that we had left in the hall were gone by morning. There's also a great movie selection in English on numerous channels.
The ocean is incredibly warm. It's a bit rocky on the shore but once you get in the water it's no longer a problem. Watch out for sea urchins by the rocks though! They start playing upbeat music in the pool at 12pm for the water aerobics class and then it turns into an all-day party. If you like quiet, the beach is probably your best option. (However, I'd recommend booking a different resort if you want to avoid this kind of thing altogether). Definitely check out the Skybar at least one of the nights you're there to watch the sunset from a hot tub with personal bar service.
Although not included in the resort, I highly recommend renting a jet ski from the beach of the hotel. We got them for US$50 for 30 minutes and saw many turtles and a dolphin. We loved it so much we went out on them twice more!
All-in-all it was a fantastic vacation. The views were spectacular, the only issue I had was resolved right away and the staff really are as good as people on here say. I can't wait to book our next stay!
