Summary of qualifications
"I'd come back again!"
Beautiful resort, kept clean and the views of the beach/ocean are amazing. Food is good and staff is helpful. Downtown is an easy and cheap bus ride from the resort. I suggest going to shop and wander around closer to API Marina also where there's a much larger market that has more vibrance and color.
Food: we enjoyed the Mexican and Italian restaurants, room service and the grill for the best food. Didn't care for Tapas (the food wasn't great and the hostess was sure to stare me down for wearing flip flops - my bad in thinking that was "casual" attire). Didn't try Asian or Cevicheria.
Room: clean, modern and comfortable. Excellent balcony. They could do better about stocking the mini bar/fridge when they come in for cleaning each day. Could definitely use a ceiling fan on the balcony and an exhaust fan for the steam in the bathroom.
Beach/pool: beach is clean and just steps from the pool area. Beautiful aqua waters. Staff is great about getting drinks when you're poolside. The pool is kept warmer while the ocean is colder water.
Entertainment: a different show each evening, all are pretty good. Daytime activities also but that tends to be a lot of loud music that doesn't seem to ever stop so you hear it from your room all the time.
Excursion: we did Mike's charters for the whale watching tour and absolutely had a great time! This is an option during the winter months while the whales are in the area.
Money: you can get pesos from the ATM at the resort for a $5/per transaction fee. They aren't very helpful with providing guidance on how much you'll need or how best to pay or tip so look that up before you arrive.
You won't regret watching sunset from your balcony here, it's truly mesmerizing! I wouldn't hesitate to come back, there's still plenty to do and see than we covered in our 5 nights.
"Great Family vacation!"
Had a fabulous time at this resort with family. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Roberto kept us in stitches at the poker tables and in the pool. All servers were very friendly. Lots of poolside chairs available always and pools great temperature. Water was rough on beach but locals said not usually like that at this time of year. Great view from room. Not loud at anytime. Uber's to PV were clean cars, very reasonable price and drivers friendly.
Coming to the end of our stay at this resort. Most of resort fine but find the food is lacking quality in some areas. It is ok but don’t expect 5star gourmet food here. The shore grill was the best and served some delicious burgers at lunch time but the other restaurants were a bit hit and miss. The waiters around the pool were outstanding especially Omar. I was even given an ice bucket for my water. It is also not a good resort if you like a walk after your meal although you can get buses and taxis to the local town pi. Room service was also outstanding .
We stayed here for 5 days, 4 nights. Resort hotel was beautiful, food and service were amazing. The friendliness and customer service was beyond phenomenal. We will def be back again. Highly highly recommend!!
"Excellent resort! many, many positives but not perfect."
My wife and I spent 1 week at this resort from Dec 15 to Dec 22, 2018. Resort is modern and truly beautiful.
Food was very good to excellent at every venue, our favorites were the Asian and the taco bar. The service at all the restaurants was truly top notch, not one less-than-10/10 experience. I have fond memories of the gentleman making table-side guacamole at the Mexican restaurant and the beautiful spit of pastor at the taco bar.
Our room was on the fifth floor, very nice. Housekeeping did an excellent job each day and the room service option was a very nice feature for a late night snack.
The pool area is part of the reason why I cannot give this resort a 5 star rating. Unfortunately the pool itself does not get direct sunlight until about 11:30 or so, shaded by the building. We compensated for this by going to the roof top bar each morning to get the morning sun, but space is limited up there, so go early. Also the pool is divided in 2. The pool that gets sun first is not attached to the swim-up bar, which is a bit of an inconvenience and the pool with the bar does not get full sun until probably close to 1:00 or 2:00. So because of this, we rarely used the swim up bar. The waiters around the pool area though, again, are exceptional. So hard working!
Another reason we cannot give 5 stars has to do with our desire for a nice cappuccino or Spanish coffee in the morning. No such thing at this resort. There is a Starbucks in the lobby, but you must pay additionally for any sort of specialty beverage. This was an irritant for us. You could ask for nice coffees at the breakfast buffet but, for us, a bit of a bug.
All things considered, would I stay here again? In a heart beat!
The Grand Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta offers a unique lounge-like atmosphere throughout the resort. The sense of fun, and the easy smiles that come so naturally when surrounded by such a beautiful place with so many fun things to see and do.
There is an indulgent day spa, amazing beach, inspired restaurants and numerous bars throughout the resort, plus three exclusive ''mood lounges,'' each with a different theme.
The hotel is perched on the golden shores of the Pacific Ocean, just west of the tropical rainforests of the Sierra Madre Mountains. It is just minutes from the Historic Downtown District and 30 minutes from Puerto Vallarta International Airport, in what is known today as the ''Romance District.''
Daytime options include subtle pleasures and exceptional experiences. When the sun goes down, guests head to the on-site gourmet restaurants and bars, plus the stylish Sky Bar lounge, with DJ music late into the night. Feel free to indulge, because reservations are never required, and, of course, everything is included.
