The Shiatsu, of Japanese origin, treats root ailments by activating the healing mechanisms that the organism possesses. It is performed with fingers over the meridian points to prevent and treat back pain, muscle spasm, migraines and central nervous system issues, anxiety and insomnia. The "Thai" technique helps replenish mental and muscle energy. Feet, hands, elbows and fingers are used, as well as a series of yoga-style stretches. This therapy is done on a special surface on the floor and requires light and loose clothing.
